In 1990, CrossWay Counseling Center was founded by Michael Gates in Daphne, AL. CrossWay is a for profit counseling center. Our professionally trained counselors apply their knowledge of Psychology and Christian principles to serve individuals, couples, and families. We provide outpatient counseling services to individuals of all ages. Our staff is trained to deal with a wide range of issues. We are dedicated to meeting people at their point of need.
We have several licensed counselors on site who assist clients using different types of therapeutic techniques. We do not have a psychiatrist on site nor on staff, but we do consult with local area psychiatrists and general physicians to meet the needs of our clients as part of their treatment plan and recovery. We provide 24-hour emergency coverage for our current clients. Most insurances are accepted and we have a therapist on site for those needing a reduced fee (For more information about fees, please contact our office).

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in marriage and family relationships. I am a National Board Certified Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors and a Clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
I earned my Doctoral degree in Psychology and Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I have both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Theology. I have more than 20 years experience as a therapist.
I enjoy seeing adolescents and adults. My clinical interests include Marital issues, Family issues, Depression, Anxiety, and Grief.
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who has been at Crossway since 2008. Prior to Crossway, I worked in a college setting and a church setting.
I am a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists and a Certified Prepare-Enrich Marriage & Premarital Facilitator. My education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Disorders from Auburn University and a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from the University of Mobile.
I enjoy working with preadolescents, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. I completed a year clinical psychology internship in Sacramento, CA as well as a clinical residency in Akron, OH. I also completed an honorary postdoctoral neuropsychology fellowship at Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, England.

God's unfailing and unchanging Word is the foundation of my approach to counseling. My education and training in family systems provide a strong orientation to facilitate change. Through my challenges as a wife, mother, single parent, step-mother in a blended family, mother-in-law, and grandmother, God has taught me empathy and given me insight. He truly wastes nothing! (Romans 8:28). I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families, including senior adults.
After enjoying a rewarding career as a Speech Pathologist, followed by a maturing season of "retirement," God drew me into a second career in Marriage and Family Therapy. It has been an amazing journey!
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who has 6 years of experience in pediatric mental health, including school-based mental health, community mental health, and outpatient services.
I graduated with my Bachelor degree in Social Science from Troy University and my Master degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Mobile. I am a member of the Association for Play Therapy, the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapists, and certified Second Edition/ ADOS-2.
I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, Systemic & Structural Family Therapy, and Play Therapy. While I enjoy working with a variety of pediatric mental health issues, my clinical specialties include systemic & structural family issues due to mental illness, stress and discord related to spirituality, and anxiety related issues. I received my Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology from the University of West Alabama. I am level II trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is recognized as an evidence-based and effective form of treatment for trauma & other disturbing experiences by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization & the Department of Defense.
I work with adults dealing with a variety of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, phobias, relationship issues, and transitional life events.
